An identified incidence was when Gandhi, during the renowned Gandhis Salt March, le d tens of thousands people on a 250-mile demonstration. This served as an important move towards Indias progress from colonization. Dr. King could have had a hard time advancing the civil rights of African Americans if he did not opt for the nonviolent civil disobedience. Black Americans had been perceived and treated as second-class citizens for over a century until the intervention by Dr. King. Often, the confrontation by police and other national security organs attracts the attention of the international community. Notably, brutal crackdown by security agencies on nonviolent demonstrators or protestors attracts media attention, which helps to enhance the strength of the movement in question. Throughout history, nonviolent civil disobedience has been successful and helped many movements to achieve their goals. Martin Luther King opted for civil disobedience and was successful.
